Physical Therapy for Josie

Josie had physical therapy for her knees. She had land therapy and water therapy. She did very well and it helped her a lot. The winter and spring seem to be the worst for her pain. So, she did 10 weeks so we can have 10 weeks come winter this year. The therapist were awesome and super nice...Josie loved going every time. She has exercises she does everyday at home and some are only 2 times a week. She doesn't really do well doing them on her own at home, but is slowing realizing that the pain is decreased greatly or not there at all, if she keeps doing them. All the swimming we have done lately, is a great help too!

Land Therapy

She has a rubber band like thing around her legs to squat while stepping sideways. Josie says the trick is sticking your bottom out.

She is bending the knee on the step to touch the other foot to the ground.  the therapist was helping her not turn her knees or hips when she does this. They think this is why she has so much pain, she needs to relearn and strengthen the right muscles so she will not do this anymore.

She loved this one...Standing on one foot while throwing the ball against the trampoline and catching it again.

Now doing it while squatting.

Pushing her self up and down while keeping her knees apart.

WATER THERAPY
She was so excited to start! Her eyes and smile were so big the first time she saw this water tank that she was going to go in!

She is going up and down on a step bending and then straightening both her legs, one at a time. She did a lot of under water leg work.

Water Resistance for her arms.

Floating while doing some some leg exercises.

Squat and bend your knees as you jump to throw and catch the ball.

Pushing the noodle under water and holding then releasing. (I thought is was scary how the therapist head is not even with her body)

Hold the wall while jumping up one leg to grab a ring, foot back on the
bottom to push off again to get all rings, then do the reverse with other leg and put rings back on hooks.
