December Traditions!

Here are some of our traditions for the month of December.

1. Advent Calender- Sometimes we start with the youngest, sometimes the oldest and continue in order. Most of things pulled out of each day are tiny ornaments to put on the tiny tree, there are surprises of money or notes to search for a treasure hidden in the house.

2. Countdown Chain- The chain actually started when Makenzye brought it home from school in Kindergarten.

3. Decorating the Tree- We listen to Christmas music and everyone has individual ornaments they put on and then there are ones that anyone can grab. We only have lights and ornaments on our tree. We have had an artificial one since our first Christmas together. We had only one as an couple before Makenzye was born. We are actually on our 2nd artificial tree. The first one lasted 15 years!

4. Countdown Snowman- One we started so everyone could have something to do each night as we rotate.

5. 24 Days of Christmas Book- This is a big 3 ring binder that has a Scripture to read, a Christmas song to sing, a story to read and a treat to make for 24 days before Christmas. We have only started this on a few years ago. It is difficult to make the treats each night but we sing and read a spiritual story. Keeps the spiritual part of Christmas alive.

And the new one this year...

5. Read a Unwrapped Christmas Story- I have wrapped all the Christmas books we have and placed them under the tree. For the last 2 nights we have opened and read them. Actually, Josie was falling asleep last night so we opened, but didn't get to read last night. Going to read 2 tonight! Only had 12 books so I am working on getting more. The kids were excited to be opening a gift each night..even though they know our books, they don't know which one. And next year it will be the same ones that they haven't seen all year. With maybe one of two new ones! Thanks Tasha!

Enjoy all your Christmas Traditions! We are!

Hey, we have a 24 days binder too, just like yours! Ours doesn't have treats in it though, just as well, I bake too much anyway.
