Medically Speaking Updates

Makenzye
Makenzye has been doing well. There is nothing more the doctors can do for her now. She exercises regularly and keeps a balance of not exercising too much. Her condition needs the exercise...she gets pain when she has sat too long....or exercises to much. She has done well finding her balance on her own. They said she has the beginnings of arthritis but her cartilage is only bruised. Nothing they do would help her at this point.

Josie
We are still going through more tests with Josie. The MRI showed no damage to her joints or cartilage yet and that is good. She does have the beginnings of Osteochondritis Dissecans like they thought, but there are other irregularities they are not sure about...which is why more tests. They will wait to treat it once all is know or ruled out. A plus is that she is young and not done growing yet!
They don't know why she has so much pain. She is now on no physical activity, running, jumping or dancing and no sports, indefinitely. Blood work has shown other abnormalities that are being looked into. Just ibuprofen was no longer working anymore...she was waking up during the night needing it. They gave her a much stronger prescription pain medication and she sleeps all night and the complaints of pain are more rare! But I feel it is just covering the problem and hope we can get more answers soon. Her and I have to do a lot of talking, to talk it all through. Josie has been pretty good about it all...though she has her moments...which break my heart! All the things she can't do are some of her favorite things! We have been coming up with lots of things for her to do that take no physical activity. I have taught her many card games, and working on teaching her knitting, trying a go at the piano and gonna keep up the guitar too! She loves all arts and crafts and loves to scrapbook too. A lot more reading too, which is wonderful!

I enjoyed the long Thanksgiving Weekend so much and look forward to the Winter Break now! I will try to catch up on some blogging...I didn't even post Halloween yet and Tim had a birthday!

The family portrait is beautiful!

What a bummer for Josie to be stuck sitting still! I hope the docs hurry up and figure it all out so she can run and jump again!

Thanks for the update--we've been thinking of you and wondering lately.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear that J & M are on limited activity! I hope doctors can find a good treatment for them soon.
