During one of the trips to Home Depot's Kid Workshop, Tim bought a starter kit with bag and tools for Josie. They picked the one with sunflower seeds.
Here is what they gave you to plant them in then you put them into the ground.
She planted 3 into the Mother's Day planter she made me.

We also planted the mothers day plant into the ground.

Here is the progress of Josie's pumpkin plant. We found a bug on the leaf one day and it continued to stay there the next day and figured it landed there to die. Not sure what kind of bug it was.

A bug that decided to die on the leaf.
I found a catapillar crawling fast in the parking lot when I left work one day. Decided to bring it home for Josie. She was so excited she made a habitat for it. Two days it stayed in it. Josie gave it wet leafs everyday and it would drink the water from it. We didn't see any leafs being eaten. Read online that some catapillars are picky about the leaves they eat. So, remembering the hungry catapillar book, I knew we had watermelon. I gave Josie a small piece and the catapillar seemed to like it. The next day the catapillar was gone. Maybe he needed the watermelon to be able to move on and find the leaves he liked. We don't know but hope he is now a beautiful butterfly somewhere! The catapillar hung on to this piece of watermelon while eating it.
Enjoying a piece of watermelon in the habitat.
